Education & Outreach

As a first step, the Group acknowledges the importance of teaching the local children respect for nature, sound principles of preservation, and environmental accountability. To meet this goal we conducted a variety of environmental classes, workshops and field projects for young people ages 7 to 17. These classes are taught by University students from South and Central Americal.

The Group has also conducted numerous community and wildland clean-up campaigns and other outreach programs geared to improve the public health and welfare.

Summer environmental classes on the beach

During the Summer and Fall months you may enjoy a visit to our marine turtle nursery. Normally the first hatchlings are released just after sundown. Each Wednesday evening (winter 7:00 p.m.& summer & 8:00) the Group conducts a slide show at the Costa Azul Hotel followed by the releasing of young hatchlings if available.
