~ Newsletter No. 265, March, 2024~
Hola Volunteers and Supporters –
We’re excited to introduce our latest additions: brand-new t-shirt and tank top designs by Emila Yusof! These eye-catching designs not only spread awareness about our cause but also support our mission.
But wait, there’s more exciting news to share! We’re overjoyed to announce that Grupo Ecológico Inc. has officially obtained nonprofit 501(c)3 designation in the US. This milestone opens up new opportunities for us to create positive change and fulfill our purpose.
By the end of April, we aim to have a 501(c)3 bank account and PayPal link set up, making the donation process smoother for our supporters. With nonprofit status confirmed, we can now provide tax-deductible receipts for all US donations, empowering donors to contribute with confidence and benefit during tax season.
During the winter months, nest hatching on the beach can be a life-and-death struggle for many newborns. Fortunately, less than 5% of all nests are laid during this period. However, for those nests, the struggle begins after the first hatchlings emerge. The remaining hatchlings within the nest require extra time to mature, and it’s crucial to let nature take its course without disturbing the nest.
A big shout out to our dedicated March staff and volunteers: Steve Raschke, Elvia Garcia, Jessica Schmidt, Karen Sorum, Hallie Loveridge, Nick Sanders, Deanna Covington, Ulises Ledesma González, Odette Brunel, and Susana Ayón.
We have a lovely apartment for rent from April through May. Fully furnished with all utilities included, it’s located in a peaceful area near Los Olas. Rent is $1,200 a month. For inquiries, please email or call us at (311) 258-4100 or (322) 154-0077.
We’re on the lookout for volunteers for the upcoming summer. If you or someone you know is interested, please encourage them to fill out our Volunteer application page. We’re still accepting applications for May-August and November of 2024.
While we finalize the 501(c)3 accounts, we still need donations. If you’re able to contribute now and require a tax-deductible receipt, please consider donating through Travler, a longstanding supporter of Grupo Ecológico. Click on this link to make a tax-deductible contribution today. Your support means the world to us.
In March, we gratefully received donations from: Susan Stephens, Jennifer Nelsen, and Ronald Walsh.
Weather-wise: March daytime temperatures were around the low-80° to mid-70°, while nighttime temps were in the 60°. March rainfall was .01 inches. For the year, the amount came to 1.76 inches. All around good weather.
Please lend a hand by contributing to our website PayPal, or through our 501(c)3 supporter.
Thank you for your continued support.
